The greatest music by the most charismatic composer in our culture has become inextricably linked with one man – not to mention the three colleagues who made up the exceptional ensemble that he led: Adolf Busch. One of the leading violinists of his time, Adolf Busch (1891-1952) has left an outstanding musical heritage in chamber music. He founded the Busch Quartet in 1921. ‘A rich harvest of performances, imbued with the unique spirit of a great German musician and humanist. We are still hearing aspects of Busch today, because he laid down so many of the parameters in the classics, but it is good to refresh our memory of the man himself’ says Tully Potter. ‘Anyone can take a few bars at random and find playing which is a model of style and full of insight .
