Heaven on Earth

Brilliant late Blue Note material from Larry Young! Heaven On Earth is actually Youngs last official release for Blue Note at the time, and its a return to more straight-ahead, nicely soulful jazz organ playing after his freer set from the year before. Despite that fact, though, the sets got its darker moments, especially since Byard Lancasters on alto and Herbert Morgan (who we only know from the Young Blue Note sessions) is on tenor, with George Benson on guitar and Edward Gladden on the kit. Nice modal organ tracks, with a good groove, and excellent solos a nice cap to the 60s era for Larry Young! Youngs wife sings on a version of My Funny Valentine, and other tracks include The Infant, Call Me, The Cradle, and The Hereafter.
