Description
Ill guess Ive done all I can do; Its really true. Im lost in you; Its over.
So true, Shelby Lynne, so true. Lost, that is, in the effervescence of a skilled singer-songwriter, as comfortable with a contemporary standard from Bacharach and David as her own torchy, Nashville-hued melodies. The lyric above, from Pretend written by Lynne herself, appears on Lynnes stirring, empathetic tribute to the late British singer Dusty Springfield Lynnes 2008 album Just A Little Lovin. And now on 200-gram vinyl comes the definitive reissue of that landmark classic from Analogue Productions and Quality Record Pressings.
Released originally by Lost Highway Records, Just A Little Lovin was, to date, the highest charting album of Lynnes career, reaching number 41 on the Billboard 200. The producer was veteran Phil Ramone the engineer for Springfields original recording of The Look of Love.
PopMatters review of Just A Little Lovin wrote Lynne has crafted a disc that while not exactly transcendent still manages to go to emotional places that remain unattainable to your run-of-the-mill pop vocalists. Some of Dustys biggest hits are covered here including You Dont Have To Say You Love Me, I Only Want To Be With You, and How Can I Be Sure.
As for the quality of the record itself, the name says it all. This heavyweight platter from Quality Record Pressings is dead quiet and smooth. Let Shelby Lynne give you Just A Little Lovin itll make your day!
