Description
Monty Pythons Total Rubbish is a new nine-LP box set due to be released on the eve of the comic groups apparently career-ending London live dates in July 2014.
The box set features all nine of Monty Pythons U.K. albums: Monty Pythons Flying Circus, Another Monty Python Record, Monty Pythons Previous Record, Matching Tie and Handkerchief, Live at Drury Lane, Holy Grail, Life of Brian, Monty Pythons Contractual Obligation Album and The Meaning Of Life and will come with a bonus seven-inch single of their 1974 flexi-disc Monty Pythons Tiny Black Round Thing.
The albums were cut with an all analogue signal path from the original 1/4? master tapes, where available. Both editions also contain excellent hardcover books, with entertaining notes by Robert Ross, guiding you from album to album, with a foreword by Michael Palin, original Monty Python artwork, archive photos and an original Terry Gilliam-designed full color slipcase.
In his review, Paul Sinclair at noted these albums were recorded expecting the listener to be playing a vinyl record. Therefore there are plenty of comedic moments relating to the vinyl format itself that make far more sense (and are funnier) if youre playing the LP. Examples of this include Michael Palin saying Sorry Squire, I scratched the record at the end of side one of Another Monty Python Record which then repeats ad infinitum thanks to the run-out groove, or Terry Jones screaming Not this record! several times at the beginning of Monty Pythons Previous Record before the sound of a needle being scratched to end his ranting.
