Description
A suave refinement of deep-seated influences matching a spare sophisticated style with a connoisseurs touch. Astringent, observational songs seal the deal. Gavin Martin, Uncut.
Geraint Watkins, the acclaimed singer, songwriter and musician, is to release his fourth solo studio album Moustique in early 2014. His previous album In A Bad Mood received a very warm reception and Geraint was rewarded with six live BBC radio sessions and a spot on the Later with Jools Holland TV show.
Jools was quoted in Mojo: One of the great underrated songwriters. He mashes up elements of Cajun, country, blues, soul and British pop and its about love, death and grown-up issues, sounding like it is sung by someone who has lived a life. Bob Dylan is another of the many who have praised him, with a number of plays on his Theme Time Radio Hour.
Geraint has attracted admiration from the top names in music. Hes much in demand and has played and recorded with Van Morrison, Paul McCartney, Mark Knopfler, Nick Lowe and many more. He fronted three of the Rolling Stones and others in Willie & the Poor Boys, and regularly tours as a key member of both Bill Wymans Rhythm Kings and Nick Lowes band. In 2012 Nick Lowe chose him to open on his band tour across Europe and Australia. Geraint followed that with headline dates in Spain, Sweden, Norway and the UK.
