This popular two-day course is designed to provide comprehensive training for the
RYA Powerboat Level 2 certificate. The extensive syllabus covers both practical skills and essential theory, ensuring you gain a strong foundation in safe boating.
Eligibility:

No prior powerboating experience is required.

Suitable for ages 12 and above.

For those under 15, we highly recommend completing the
RYA Powerboat Level 1 course first.
Please Note: Individuals under 16 who successfully complete the course must be supervised by a person over 16 with an
RYA Powerboat Level 2 licence when helming a powered craft.
The course covers a wide range of topics, including:

Boat Handling: Launching, recovery, boat handling at various speeds, mooring, anchoring, and docking.

Safety & Equipment: Pre-start checks, safety equipment, lines, fenders, fire precautions, and man overboard procedures.

Navigation & Regulations: Effects of current or tide, collision regulations (IRPCS), weather forecasts, and local bylaws.

Communication: Communicating with other boats and the shore.

Emergency Procedures: Emergency action and personal buoyancy.

Other Skills: Propeller controls, fuel tanks, and rope work.
International Certificate of Competence (ICC):
Upon completing the
RYA Powerboat Level 2 course, you can apply for an
International Certificate of Competence (ICC) through the RYA. This digital certificate qualifies you to operate power craft up to 10 metres in coastal waters of ICC-regulated countries, including:
Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and Turkey.
The ICC is valid for five years and costs £59.00 for non-members, or is free for RYA members. It is available to British citizens or bona fide UK residents. For inland waterways in Europe, the
CEVNI test is also required, and we are in the process of setting up testing facilities for this.

Provides the skills and background knowledge needed by the competent powerboat driver and is the basis of the International Certificate of Competence. It aims to teach boat handling and seamanship in powerboats. It focuses on low speed close quarters handling, man overboard recovery, an introduction to driving at planing speed, and collision regulations. The course can be taken at an inland or coastal location. It may be conducted in a variety of boat types, both planing and displacement. The certificate issued will be endorsed to show the type of boat in which the training took place.
