Description

Stage Struck is the eleventh album and the third live album by Irish singer/guitarist Rory Gallagher. Recorded between November 1979July 1980 and Released 2nd November 1980. The album documents Gallaghers world tour in support of his 1979 album Top Priority. Accordingly, it features many songs from that album as well as hard-driving, almost metal, rock versions of songs from his Calling Card and Photo Finish albums, Glenn Tipton from Judas Priest I was just stunned by his use of an old battered Stratocaster, a Vox AC-30 [amp], and a Rangemaster treble booster. The guitar had so much energy that I think hes the guy, really, that made me pick up the guitar. This 2012 remaster used the original vinyl artwork and 1/4 tapes so that they look and sound exactly as Rory intended.

Johnny Marr The man who changed my musical life was Rory Gallagher, I picked up a guitar because of him.

Slash Rory didnt sound like anybody elseHe had a very individual, independent kind of tone and approach and everything. Hes always been a big hero to me.

Brian May So these couple of kids come up, whos me and my mate, and say How do you get your sound Mr. Gallagher? and he sits and tells us. So I owe Rory Gallagher my sound.

Ritchie Blackmore Rory was probably the most natural player Ive ever seen. In all the gigs we did together I dont think I ever heard him play the same thing twice He was the ultimate performer.

Ed Sheeran A Million Miles Away was the first song I learned on guitar. The story goes that when Jimi Hendrix was asked how it felt to be the greatest guitarist in the world, he answered, I dont know. Go ask Rory Gallagher.
