Description

The announcement of blues legend Johnny Winters follow up to 2011s Roots in March was received with much excitement by not just the blues community but the wider musical one also. Unfortunately, 4 months later Winter passed away on tour in Switzerland but his legend and body of work, including this, his final album, speaks volumes about his guitar virtuosity, his love of music and the fine set of musicians he worked with. Step Back features an amazing list of musical guests, including Eric Clapton, Ben Harper, Billy Gibbons, Joe Perry, Brian Setzer, Dr. John and the Blues Brothers Horns, and takes Johnny back to a more aggressive style of bluesone that helped shape the musical icon.

Johnny is the only white person to be so respected by the black blues artists and Johnny is the last living link to the original blues art form. From Johnnys legendary three Grammy-winning producing albums for Muddy Waters, to his Woodstock performance, to playing Madison Square Garden with Janis Joplin to playing with Jimi Hendrix (with Hendrix on bass), Johnny Winter walked with greatnessand continues to walk with greatness on his new album Step Back.
