Description

Paul Simon visited England in 1964 and 1965 and got involved with the burgeoning folk-music movement in the country. Whilst in London, he stayed with Judith Piepe, champion of political activists and curator of a folk cellar at St Annes Church in Soho. She convinced the Reverend Roy Trevivian, a BBC radio producer, to record Paul in a session for the religious programme Five To Ten for transmission in May 1965. Art Garfunkel came to visit Paul during the Summer and together, the friends recorded sessions in London. The original BBC tapes were long thought to have been lost, but luckily they resurfaced in 2001. These early versions of Simons songs, some well-known, some less so, have a raw and authentic quality.
